Belem Tower, Lisbon, Portugal

Hey hey! I’m Jessy!

So, I have always and I mean ALWAYS wanted to travel. My grandma is from Portugal and worked for Air Portugal so my entire childhood was spent with her jetting off with her best friend to Finland to go shopping or flying across the country to see me for my birthday.

It was all so glamorous and exciting. The stories and the pictures and the prezzies she’d bring me back were the stuff dreams are made of and so I did…I dreamed and dreamed and dreamed. I had maps and atlases and books on all the locations I wanted to visit.

I became Queen of the Road Trip and traveled all over the United States but international travel always seemed way too expensive and VERY intimidating.

Enter Globus (of course I was on every mailing list known to man even though I was not actually going anywhere), they do a TON of vacations called “Escapes” and they’re basically short affordable off-season trips. I would HIGHLY recommend them.

They sent me a ridiculously fantastic offer to go to Ireland and there was just something so “safe” about going to an English-speaking country for a short amount of time with a tour guide that I just did it…I clicked “purchase now” before I could talk myself out of it.

What followed next was a very frustrating amount of research into flights and how immigration and customs works and what you have to declare, foreign currency, etc etc etc. There’s just so much that no one really talks about and honestly, I was a little freaked out.

Fast forward through one terrible budget airline flight where there was no food/entertainment/space to move and a couple of points winging it through being in a foreign country and I was hooked. It wasn’t half as complicated OR expensive as I thought it was going to be and I’ve never looked back.

Now my mission is to make travel more attainable for you! If I can do it…then you can do it and I’m here to help get you there!

A few things to know about me:

  • I’m obsessed with travel research and how to use my miles to get me as far as possible.
  • I have a pit bull mix named Basil. After Basil Rathbone, obviously. You will be subjected to many adorable pictures of him. Brace yourself.
  • I love my Nespresso…as in…my fear of not having my fav pods has developed into a minor hoarding issue.
  • I lived in six states before the age of 8.
  • London holds a special place in my heart but Edinburgh is coming in hot in an effort to grab that spot.
  • I spent 15 years prior to the pandemic, event planning at an entertainment venue. Festivals, concerts, theatre shows…the list goes on.
